The Camp

Lilla Arvidsträsk, Älvsbyn — Swedish Lapland

Our base camp is located at the 65th parallel in Swedish Lapland, one hour's drive (70 km) from Luleå airport and 15 minutes from Älvsbyn (15 km), a quiet small town nicknamed "the pearl of Norrbotten".

We live in the main house with our 5 Nordic dogs and we host you in the small neighboring "Stuga", a little cabin of 20 square meters. This cabin is equipped with basic comfort like in a mountain lodge: wood stove, refrigerator, stove and beds for two people.

BUT no running water in winter so washing dishes means using a basin and water containers!

No bathroom either but a TRADITIONAL SAUNA with the possibility to wash.

The dry toilets are behind the Stuga, unheated but insulated (!).

Your four-legged companions benefit from a relaxation area and an insulated kennel but they can sleep with you if you wish.

Group outings are done with harnesses for humans, harnesses for dogs and elastic leashes. The human and dog are connected to share the effort together and with their fellow expedition members.

We cannot accommodate packs of more than 2 dogs per person. We have chosen to have a small pack and to be able to welcome teams of identical sizes.

We'd been thinking for some time about growing our furry family by adopting adolescents. But Summa's sudden passing changed everything. We all needed time to accept her departure. So we decided to wait and adopt puppies in a few months instead. We were delighted to learn that Ophyr, a beautiful little dog belonging to a French friend, would be having puppies very soon. We'd met Ophyr two years ago and she'd won us over with her kindness, her determination, and those incredibly gentle eyes. So if all goes well, we'll be adopting new companions for life, descendants of the lovely Ophyr, by the end of summer!
